Tankerton Evangelical Church has been sending humanitarian aid as part of its church vision to the needy people in the poor parts of Africa for more than 20 years now. This is in the form of clothes parcels which are sent to Nairobi in Kenya, Malawi, Swaziland, Zimbabwe in particular. We send about 40 parcels each month and each weighs about 2Kg and costs £7.79 to send by surface mail. The clothes particularly requested are adults and children's shirts, trousers dresses, baby clothes, blankets and bed linen. Warm clothes are welcome too, even though this is Africa, for these people experience rather cold nights, and wet winters. Please don't refrain from sending warm clothes too. But not shoes, scarves or heavy coats. Clothing must be clean, mended, and in good condition (should have at least one year of good wear left in them). If you have any old clothes and would like them to be sent to Africa please bring them to T.E.C. on a Sunday with you. Although this ministry is a drop in the ocean compared to the great need there, the parcels are received with much gratitude and we receive lots of thank-you letters.
